Using Ibhar Largest Hand Hygiene Study Conducted by JIPMER across 104 Hospitals - WHO India Technical Partner

The study, spanning over six months and encompassing 104 healthcare facilities across 29 states in the India, focused on evaluating and improving hand hygiene practices among healthcare workers (HCWs) in COVID Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and wards.


Hand hygiene is a critical component in preventing healthcare-associated infections, including the transmission of COVID-19. The study, conducted in various public and private hospitals, utilized Ibhar’s mobile application integrated with WHO’s 5 Moments of hand hygiene to conduct comprehensive audits.


The key metrics analyzed in the study included Hand Hygiene Total Adherence Rate (HHTAR) and Hand Hygiene Complete Adherence Rate (HHCAR). These metrics were compared across different zones, types of institutes, professions, and WHO moments, providing valuable insights into adherence patterns and areas for improvement.The results of the study are disseminated widely
